Battery Replacement

If you can't remember when your EXAMINER's batteries were last changed or you're experiencing any of the following problems, your batteries need to be replaced.

  • Display is dim, even after adjusting the CONTRAST wheel
  • Programs end prematurely with ERROR messages
  • Unit won't turn on

The Sharp PC-1270 uses two CR-2032 coin type lithium cells. You can purchase these batteries at Radio Shack and most stores that sell small electronic devices. Always replace both batteries at the same time, following the steps shown below.

Switch the APR EXAMINER's power OFF.
Slide the RAM CARD EJECT latch to the right and pop the program card out of the machine.
Remove the two screws holding the back cover in place.  Lift cover from bottom and remove.
Slide the battery compartment cover off.
Pop old batteries out and replace with new.  Upper battery is print-side up and the lower one faces down.  Repeat above steps in reverse order. Align top of back cover carefully--do not bend small tabs that fit into the body of the machine.
DO NOT perform the next 2 steps if your memory card is labeled "Sharp RAM CARD". Resetting a Sharp "RAM Card" will permanently erase your program.  All other types of memory cards are erase-protected, but MUST be reset in order to function properly.   Perform the following 2 steps.
Turn the APR EXAMINER on.  Straighten a paper clip and push through "ALL RESET" hole, firmly.
Press CA, ENTER and switch the power OFF and then ON. Your APR EXAMINER is ready to be used.
Touch the TOOLBOX key to begin.
